Surrender

Throughout life we are constantly evolving. The person you are today is different to the person you were years ago. Life experiences create the awareness we need for change to happen. And yet quite often we find ourselves hanging on to the idea of who we think we are (or should be), limiting our ability to grow and evolve.

It can be hard to let go – we experience this with relationships, friendships, jobs and with the fixed idea of who we are. But there’s a time for those things…and a time to move on from them.

We live in a world with too much choice and far too many distractions. When we stop paying attention to our personal growth, life may present us with experiences that we don’t understand and in our pain we find ways to numb and blind ourselves to it teachings.

When you argue with reality, you will always lose. You can try to fight reality, or learn to surrender to what is – and in so doing, learn to embrace it and the lessons it has to offer. What if you could learn to trust that what you are experiencing is part of the process towards awakening and enlightenment? What if you could trust that one day you will look back and understand why you had to go through what you are going through, and see it as a gift?

Don’t fear change. Don’t limit yourself by the way you define yourself or the way you think others define you. Don’t get attached to ideas or hold on to things that no longer serve you.

Regardless of how hard life can get, we always have the choice as to how we will allow it to affect us and how we will choose to react to it. This is a key to real happiness – knowing that the choice to surrender is entirely yours. Choose to see the possibilities in your current experiences, choose to learn from them and keep walking forward – with your eyes and heart open.

Surrender to your natural evolution and allow it to take you where you need to go. Surrender to change and that organic process we call growth. When you let go of what you are, you become what you might be.

“The moment of surrender is not when life is over. It’s when it begins.” – Marianne Williamson
